Another Thanksgiving in the Books!

Greetings, again. We are slowly recovering from the food fest known as Thanksgiving. Really did pretty good at not overeating. Of course, that is what I thought Turkey Day was all about!!!!! Aunt Janna arrived around 10:00 a.m. with no problems. Been shopping at some of the strip malls. Staying away from the people magnets today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally took pictures of the new sidewalk, so I figured I had better get them posted. Added a couple of other interesting photos along with them. Enjoy!

To ride the wind!

Well, we made it back home safe and sound and sad to have to leave. We had a great time with the grandchildren.............and with their Dad & Mom, also. :-) Thank you so very much for the excellent hospitality. Even got to ride the bike. I am a street bike rider, so I rode it like a street bike. But, I got to ride and it was fun! Have to practice and get better. I am going to try to upload the video. Enjoy!

A Visit To California

We were in anticipation of the visit and we have made the trip and are enjoying a great time! We stayed at a motel the night before the flight and have left the car at that motel until we return. It made the departing day much easier. We had the usual 'sleeping in a strange bed' feeling, but we did fine. Arrived in CA at noon and have been going ever since. Made a trip to San Diego for work, went to the beach twice; got to see our first 'home' as a couple, aka, apartment; stayed an extra day there, came back home, washed the vehicles and have been enjoying the time away from work with four of the five grandchildren and, oh, yeah, their Dad & Mom! It is a blessing! We are having a great time. Will hate to go home and will be looking forward to the next opportunity to visit. Here are some pics of the fam and the time in CA. Enjoy!

Hello again, everyone! Just thought I would take a couple of minutes before AWANA to post a text-only blog and see who was paying attention! Just haven't taken the time to update the blog as I should. Sorry! We are managing to keep busy with work, Church, the house,...........etc. We are off this weekend to see Nana's folks before they are off for warmer climes. Just to whet your appetite for pics, we are having the walkway by the garage bricked in along with the space between the patio and sidewalk. In addition, we are getting estimates for the front and back doors to be replaced. Should be an interesting Fall. Let you go for now. Take care. We send our love and prayers and look forward to the upcoming CA visit. We will try to remember to take our flame-retardant jammies!!! :-)

Presenting Nana'a New Wheels!!

Greetings! Hope this finds you all well. The progress on the insurance is slow (DUH!), but we slog on. The paperwork on the new vehicle came through and Mom drove it home today. Must not have overwhelmed her too much. Already has a list of 'stuff' to do. 'There's a 'cricket-squeak' in the dash when I go over a bump', When do I get the NOX system? :-), 'The front seat cup holder is broken!'..................................! Anyway, it is done and I have taken some pictures to show it off! Enjoy. Now, that's a TRUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just when you get the car where you like it!!!!!!!!!

Greetings, again. Just heading home after a hard day's work (okay, so it is a stretch to call it work.......yeah, yeah, it's not hard either!). Well, I stopped in the right turn lane getting ready to turn. A semi with a trailer was in the lane next to me. I did notice as I pulled up to the corner he did NOT have a turn signal on. Well, as I was getting ready to turn, I noticed the driver had put on his turn signal and was beginning to turn. As he continued his turn, I knew he was going to hit me with his trailer and before I could react, the middle of the trailer struck the pillar between the windshield and driver's door, sending windshield glass all over. The majority of the windshield stayed together (the function of the laminate in the glass) and I was sprayed with just a few shards. Before the truck stopped, the side of the trailer had creased the pillar and continued to come over and get the rest of the front door and crease the back door. The roof was warped but the door actually opened and closed. Fortunately I had the window down. That would have been interesting!!!! As I remember, I knew he wasn't going to stop before he struck the car, so I leaned over into the passenger's seat hoping the rear tires wouldn't climb the car and make a pancake out of me and the car!!!! The driver must have glanced in his passenger side mirror because he then quickly stopped. I backed up and discovered I could get out. The police arrived shortly and a report was filled out. Now I have to report to the state and I have called the insurance company. I am going to get in touch with the company's insurance Wednesday. It looks like it will be totaled. Just have to wait and see! Here are a few pics. Take care.

Anything Look Different?!!

Hello, again. Just got back from visiting Grandpa and Grandma Singleton. They are doing okay. They decided to switch from Dish to Directv. They were waiting for the technician to come and hook them up when we left. Called when we got home and the tech had just finished connecting up the equipment and was showing them the remote operation.
We arrived home safe and sound. Traffic was the best it has been in quite awhile. Add to that a Cubs victory over the Pale Hose and the day was a complete success!! On top of all that, a friend came over while we were gone and removed more of the bushes and even a tree that was next to the garage. What a blessing! Sending the pictures of the progress. Now to rest and get ready for the Lord's day. Have a great weekend.

Getting to the Root of the Problem!

Howdy this hot, humid June afternoon. Seems like summer already, but I'll take the hot as opposed to the cold this day. We have decided to clean up the yard. When we moved in, there were any number of different plants, bushes, weeds, and nuisance trees dotting the landscape. Not a pretty sight! Well, we are not landscapers at all, but we are going to give it a go. We have some tomato plants growing and have planted a couple of trees next to the street in front. Next we began removing some of the annoying bushes and trees and have pulled about six so far. Good start. Just have to keep at it a little at a time. We have friends willing to help and that will be just fine. Leave you with some shots of the work. Enjoy!

Give'em an in, they'll take a yard!

Decided to start cleaning out the bushes and trees, as I mentioned last time. So, here we go! Enjoy.

'Dog days' of summer; almost!

Greetings, again! Trying to get used to Logan not being here for a month! (Oh, yeah, miss his Mom, too.........Love Ya, Rae! :-) ). Wrigley is in the mood as well. He still has food from yesterday! He will be fine in a day or so. I'm still home from the crud. Got drugs and am recovering slowly (One of the bennies of getting older). Should be able to go to work Thursday. Worked outside for a bit yesterday. Borrowed a power washer from the neighbor to see how it would work on the garage. After I get and apply some stripper, the washer should power the paint off great. Just have to do some sanding and caulking and let 'er dry. Then I should be ready to spray paint the thing. Should be done by 2015!!!!! I can hear the kids now......'That soon!' Mom (Nana) is still progressing great. She starts back to work half-days next Monday. Sooner if Dad doesn't go to work and get out of her hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will leave you with Wrigley's assessment of the situation. Put a bubble over his head and read 'When Ya commin' home and rescue me, Mom?!!!! Take care.

Grandpa & Grandma back from Fla.

Greetings this rainy Monday. Hm-m-m-m.......Rainy Days & Mondays always get me down! Wonder if that could be a song? :-)
Well, Grandpa and Grandma have made it back from Florida. They stop in Tenn. to visit a Navy buddy of Dad's. He is pretty bad shape, but still hanging in there. After a short visit they head out and usually get home in another day. Dad just can't let the grass grow under him when he is on the road. Here is a pic of the four of us from our recent visit. Enjoy.

Last but not least..........Let's Eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The final room in the tour is the kitchen. We were concerned about the size and it is a bit on the small side, but we have taken the diminutive size as a challenge to efficiently use the space. We really needed to maintain a 'standard' sized refrigerator and that required removal and re-installation of the bottom 4 steps to allow the fridge to be moved in. That being completed, we moved on the the microwave. The choices were a large over-the-range unit, a small counter-top unit, or an in between unit. Well,....................the over-the-range unit would have no range to be over!! (city nixed that idea!!!) :-( Having figured the small unit would be too small for anything substantial, we got the mid-sized microwave. It is an 1100 watt unit with a 1.1 cu. ft. capacity, so it will do. Not having a range, we had to get creative. Perusing catalogs ad infinitum, the wife ran across a convection oven with two range burners on the top. The convection oven allows us to bake most of the usual items. I suppose a 20-pound T-bird won't fit, but you can always do two 10-pounders! Anyway, with an adjustable heavy-duty cart, we set the burner height to that of a stove and, there we are!!!! Well, there you have it. We have completed the remodel and are very thankful for all the assistance we have had in all areas. Hope you enjoy the pictorial survey of the project. Thank you for your time and attention.

Next the Living Room and Hallway

Moving to the living room, we see the tv, couch, and computer stand. We purchased a corner unit from Sauder and put it together. It doesn't sit as far into the corner as we had hoped, but it will work. Check it out!

Next will be the bathroom

Having gotten a good night's rest, we will move to the bathroom. Lots 'o really neat stuff goes on in there, but we will confine ourselves to the sink and shower. :-) We really like the color and space. Hope you enjoy it as well.
